Review: Toshiba 55SV670U LED TV
The Toshiba 55SV670U is one of the least expensive LED TVs on the market. It should probably come as no surprise that in order to keep the price down some compromises had to be made. That being said the things they compromised on are things that really aren't critical. The picture quality is quite good, not top of the line, but good. This is definitely a television that will give you your moneys worth.
The Toshiba 55SV670U LED TV is one of the least expensive options on the market so it should probably come as no surprise that there are more compromises on quality here than there are with other televisions. The 55SV670U uses LED technology for a much improved picture quality over earlier LCD TVs LED TVs replace the fluorescent tube that standard LCD televisions use for back lighting with LEDs. Although not the great technological leap that a lot of manufacturers seem to imply is in their advertising it does produce a noticeably better quality picture.
The advantage of an LED TV is that the LEDs can be turned on and off individually so that you get what is called local dimming. This produces much deeper blacks and more accurate colours than on older LCD TVs This true of the Toshiba 55SV670U as well, although it isn't be best LED television when it comes to deep blacks and accurate colours it is quite good.
The downside of LED TVs is that the off angle viewing is quite poor and the Toshiba 55V670U is no exception to this. There are also some issues with back light fluctuations depending on the brightness of the show you are watching. The biggest issue with this particular televisions picture quality however is that the blooming is more noticeable than on other LED TVs That is there is a bit of a halo around the colours that affects the dark areas.
There are lots of options for adjusting the picture, while this is true of all LED televisions the Toshiba 55SV670U seems to have even more options than most. One of the nice features is that you can separate the anti-blurring and the dejudder functions. The number of interactive features is somewhat limited compared to other LED televisions. There are lots of ports for connectivity and the energy efficiency is great.
The Toshiba 55SV670U is a good example of getting what you pay for. While there are certainly better LED TVs on the market they are also much more expensive. It should go without saying that if you are buying a television at the low end of the price range there are going to be some tradeoffs and this is certainly true here. That being said the Toshiba 55SV670U does provide a good quality picture and is well worth the price you will pay for it.
